Enter the size of your pattern pieces and see how many A4 or US Letter pages it prints on, with the overlap and margins sewists tape together. It's the same maths Sewpress uses to build real files.

Units

Measure the area your pieces cover, not the artboard. Sewpress uses 10 mm overlap and 10 mm margins by default; most home printers can't print closer than about 6 mm to the edge.

How the count works

Each page prints an area the size of the paper minus its margins. Neighbouring pages share an overlap, so every page after the first adds the printable width minus the overlap. A 706 × 917 mm trouser on A4 with 10 mm margins and 10 mm overlap needs 4 pages across and 4 down: 16 pages, before any blank ones are skipped.

Want fewer pages? Shrink the margins (most printers manage 6 mm), nest the pieces closer, or offer an A0 copyshop file alongside the tiles.
