Draft. This page describes how Sewpress really works today, but it hasn't had a lawyer's review yet. Questions: write to us at the address at the bottom.
Terms
These terms are the agreement between you and Sewpress (company details to follow) when you use Sewpress. Using the app means you accept them. Sewpress is made for pattern designers and small studios publishing their own work.
1. What Sewpress does
You upload a layered master file of your sewing pattern. Sewpress builds print-at-home, copyshop and projector PDFs from it, keeps your size layers, and measures the test square in every file.
2. Check the test square before you publish
We measure every file we build with two independent PDF engines and show you the result. But printers, PDF viewers and print settings vary, and a wrong master file can be measured perfectly and still be wrong. Before you sell or share a file, print the test square from each format you publish and measure it. You are responsible for the patterns you publish; we are responsible for building your files the way we describe.
3. Your account
Keep your sign-in email secure: anyone who can read it can sign in. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
4. Your files stay yours
You keep every right to your patterns. You give us permission to store and process them only to build your files and show them to you, for as long as you keep them with us. Upload only files you have the right to use. See who can see your files.
5. Fair use
- Don't upload files that attack or overload the service, or that aren't patterns.
- Don't try to reach other people's files or get around limits and payments.
- We limit how many uploads and builds you can start in an hour, to keep things fast for everyone.
We may suspend an account that breaks these rules, and will tell you why.
6. Credits, Studio and the free tier
- The free tier includes one build a month; those files carry a small “Layout by Sewpress” line.
- A release credit builds one release, with free rebuilds of it for 30 days. Credits don't expire.
- Studio is billed monthly or yearly and renews until you cancel; cancelling keeps it until the end of the period you paid for.
- A build that fails on our side costs nothing: the credit or included build comes back automatically.
- Prices are shown at checkout, with tax where it applies. Refunds are covered by our refund policy.
7. Availability and changes
We work hard to keep Sewpress running and your files safe, but can't promise it will never be down. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll email you at least 30 days before.
8. Liability
Nothing here limits rights you have by law that can't be limited. Otherwise, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we aren't liable for lost profits or indirect losses, including from a file you published without checking its test square.
9. Ending
You can delete your account any time in Settings. We can end the service with 30 days' notice, or straight away for a serious breach of these terms; if we end it without a breach, we'll refund unused credits and the unused part of Studio.
10. Law
These terms are governed by the law of Norway. If you're a consumer, you keep the protection of the law where you live.
